Why are some of our products liquid cooled?

The liquid cooled bulbs use a patented system known as Liquid Immersed Thermal Management Solution (LITMS). For optimum performance and longevity, the thermal junction of an LED should be maintained at low temperature - ideally around 25°C. This can be a big problem when creating sealed LED bulbs, because the air inside the bulb effectively insulates the LED, causing it to overheat.

The amount of heat generated by LEDs is relatively small, but it is intense at a very localized point. The liquid within the LITMS bulb works much like the cooling system in a car. Liquid circulates around the bulb, carrying the heat away from the source.

There is a secondary benefit to the system. The liquid works with the surface treatment of the bulb to diffuse the light, making it appear softer, with less glare.
